The 10 BIGGEST Treaties of Success

The most successful people in all walks of life have a number of things in common. This is true whether we’re talking about an innovator like Steve Jobs, an author like J.K. Rowlings or a theoretical physicist like Stephen Hawking. All of them have drive, imagination and great ideas that have changed our world. It isn’t easy following in the footsteps of successful people like this, but it is possible by adopting these 10 treaties of success in our lives.

Biggest Treaties of Success

1 – Identify your Goals

If you don’t have any goals, it’s hard to achieve anything substantial. The people we mentioned above all have one thing in common – they had an idea what their end goals were, and they set out to achieve them. Not letting anything stop them for succeeding!

2 – Accept Rejection and Move On

Rejection happens to all of us – accept it, learn from it and move on. Try again and again, bigger and better! Stephen King is one of the most successful novelists of all time, but his first book was rejected dozens of times before he achieved success.

3 – Understanding and Working with Emotions

Emotions can get the better of us if we let them. On your journey to success, you will experience a rollercoaster of emotions. When they feel overwhelming, you need to use your analytical skills to overcome them or embrace them when appropriate. Stay in the moment and breathe!

4 – The Value of a Mentor

You can achieve success without a mentor. However, having a good one can speed up the process considerably. Most people with experience and success love the idea of mentoring others – we just have to be willing to seek out and ask for their help. Put your thinking cap on and think of all the people in your life. If there’s no one worthy, look outside – the internet is a place to start.

5 – Be Willing to Take Risks

On May 30th 2020 Elon Musk’s SpaceX became the first private company to launch astronauts into space. This monumental achievement was preceded by many catastrophic failures, but that didn’t stop him. That’s because he understood that success means being willing to take risks and accept the inevitable failures that come with those risks.

6 – Take Ownership of your Actions

Successful people don’t hide from their failures, they embrace them, take ownership of them and learn from them. There’s no success without failure! Steve Jobs was once forced out of the Company he founded – Apple. He took ownership of the actions that led to that event, moved on to other successes and eventually returned to Apple to take it to greater heights.

7 – Think Outside the Box

Just because something hasn’t been done before it doesn’t mean it’s not possible. Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph wanted to change how we watch movies, so they founded Netflix. Before them, no such service had ever existed, but by thinking outside the box they were able to create one of the most successful entertainment companies in history.

8 – Read and Keep an Open Mind

Successful people read a lot and they’re always open to changing direction. Reading can inform and give us ideas that we hadn’t seen or heard of before. It’s all about keeping an open mind!

9 – Learn from Others

If we think of something, chances are someone else has thought of something similar. When Bill Gates and Microsoft created Windows, it wasn’t the first graphical operating system on the market – Apple beat them to it. Gates was still able to take that idea and expand on it, creating the most widely used operating system for decades.

10 – Know when you are right

If there’s one thing successful people are able to do, it’s recognising when they’re right. People that lack vision may try to undermine their ideas, but they persevere. Many of Albert Einstein’s theories were treated with scepticism, but he stuck by them. With advancements in science, most of his theories have proved to be correct.

Success isn’t easy

Success isn’t easy, but once it’s happened, it’s well worth it. If we can incorporate these 10 Treaties of Success into our daily lives, we can achieve great things. Being successful doesn’t mean matching the accomplishments of Steve Jobs, J.K. Rowlings or Stephen Hawkings – it means being the best version of ourselves and excelling at everything we do by following the principles that we’ve outlined above.
