Balancing Business and Babies
The art of balancing business and babies
Running a small business while raising a family can be tough. Let’s look at the art of balancing business and babies, and how hacks can help you succeed in both these areas.
Owning a business is demanding no matter what stage you are at in life. Whether you’re young, free and single, or whether you have children to feed and take care of, you’ll know how much effort is required to manage your business. However, managing your business becomes extra hard when you have little ones. All of a sudden, you’ve got to find that work/life equilibrium you’ve heard people talk about in the past. If you don’t find it, the pain is almost not worth mentioning. Stress takes over, your business falls apart, and you don’t get to spend quality time with your children. Worse still, you can start to feel the guilt of it all.
However, one of the reasons parents launch a business in the first place is to have the freedom and flexibility to set their own hours so that they can spend more time with their kids.
Let’s take a look at ways of balancing business and babies.
Stay Organised
Thanks to organisational apps like 24me and Evernote, it’s easier than ever to stay on top of things so that they don’t get on top of you.
If you can organise your life, you’re giving yourself such an amazing chance to perfect the art of balancing your business and babies. Instead of being left with just two hours at the end of the week to spend with your little darlings, you can create a weekly schedule that allows you to spend as much time as you want with them.
Without proper structure, things can easily fall apart and time can get away from us. Schedule your meetings, rubber stamp your deadlines, and work out which tasks need X amount of time. Stay ahead of the game!
Stay Positive
It’s really important right now that you don’t lose your cool. If you can stay upbeat and optimistic, it’s much easier to stay on track.
Our outlook influences our life. If you think positive thoughts, there is every chance that things will fall into place. Get up 30 minutes earlier each morning and learn the art of meditation. This simple practice will benefit you and your day in more ways than you know. It will put you in a conscious space, and allow you to take on the day with calmness.
Always Make Time
Making sure that you still get to spend time with your children despite running a business usually means making them a priority.
If your children aren’t at the top of your list of your priorities, you might find yourself taking that spontaneous call with a client. You might find yourself replying to that email that’s just come in straight away, rather than leaving it until tomorrow.
When you put your kids at the top of your list of primacies, you’re far likelier to not work beyond the time you had planned. Instead you’ll switch off your phone and laptop and go play with your darlings.
Ask For Help
You can’t do this all by yourself. Whereas, y5ou might think you can, and might really want to, but there are times when you’ll need to reach out for assistance.
You know what? People want you to reach out to them. They want to need them! Whether it means getting people on board with your business, or asking for help in other areas (such as hiring a cleaner). Looking to others to do you a few solids is an excellent way of ensuring you manage your work/life balance better.
