How we use social media in 2014

This video shows the results of a survey that comprised more than 4700 respondents, from 120 nations, with 5 countries making up nearly 67% of all responses, with men making up about 55%, and women the other 44%, with roughly 80% aged 18-44. This video is all about how we use social media in 2014.

What was the first social network you joined?

Almost 27% of takers joined Myspace, with a whopping 40% being introduced to social media through Facebook.

How many social networks do you use regularly?

While there’s always a social platform for everyone, more than 77% of respondents are now using 2-4 social networks every week.

Which social network could you NOT live without?

Though you might be on multiple networks these days, everyone usually has a favourite. For 43% of survey takers, Facebook is their necessity, with Twitter behind at 21% and Instagram at a low 11%.

What social network could you live without?

While Facebook seems to be vitally important to some, more than 18% said they’d do just fine if it didn’t exist, as well as Google Plus, then Twitter being a close second with 17%.

In the past 12 months has the network you use changed?

Survey takers were asked this and 69.27% said yes, with 30.73% saying no.

Which social network were you using most 12 months ago?

More than 66% of people said they were using Facebook the most a year ago, with only 16% favouring Twitter and 7% Instagram.

With more and more social platforms entering the field today, many are using social media for a specific task, like sharing photos and videos, or sending messages and telling secrets, instead of using them as an all in one destination. The world of social media has changed tremendously since the first social media day, and we can’t wait to see what changes in the next five years.
